ZAIQ TECHNOLOGIES ENTERS INTO STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH NETOCTAVE
--Successful Completion of NSP2000 ASIC Project Supports Initiative for 2001 and Beyond--
Woburn, MA and Research Triangle Park, NC - April 24, 2001 - Zaiq Technologies, Inc., the fastest-growing product development outsourcer for communications infrastructure companies, and NetOctave, a developer of silicon-based network security solutions for IPSec and SSL, today announced that the two companies will work together on future technology design projects throughout the year based on the successful completion of the design and verification of NetOctave's NSP2000 Security Processor ASIC, as well as an FPGA emulation of the processor that allowed NetOctave to recently demonstrate the new product.
Working in tandem with Zaiq's seasoned team of engineers and using Zaiq's proven methodology and technology, NetOctave developed a robust design verification environment for the NSP2000 Security Processor, an ASIC that combines encryption, authentication and IKE acceleration on a single chip. Zaiq helped NetOctave to rapidly develop an FPGA prototype implementation of the NSP2000, allowing the Company to demonstrate the proof of concept functionality of the NSP2000 at the recent RSA Conference 2001. Further, the FPGA will be offered to beta-customers with a software developer's kit as a design implementation package.
"The quality of engineering talent that Zaiq has delivered has been critical to the rollout of the NSP2000 Security Processor," said Rick Hegberg, CEO of NetOctave. "By partnering with Zaiq for this project, we were able to achieve our product timeline goals and provide a prototype demonstration of our new technology to our key audience. Zaiq's proven capabilities and technology make them a true partner in our success, which is why we plan to continue our relationship with Zaiq for our next design verification project."
The NSP2000 Security Processor offers OEM customers a compelling package of performance and functionality. The new processor performs symmetric key encryption (DES, 3DES, ARC4), hashing operations (MD5, SHA-1) with or without HMAC and public key encryption (RSA, DSA, and Diffie-Hellman exchanges). The NSP2000 Security Processor delivers 1 Gbps encryption/authentication (3DES/SHA-1) and 500 IKE Phase 1 connections per second, and can function as a single-chip solution for IPSec, as a standalone IKE accelerator, or as the IPSec portion of an OC-12 IPSec VPN subsystem. For SSL, it performs 2050 RSA decrypts per second and 1 GBPS encryption/authentication (ARC4/SHA-1) and can function as a standalone SSL encryption accelerator.
To assist in the creation of a verification environment for the NSP2000, Zaiq utilized tools in a VERA language based upon its Pre-configured Reusable Environment and testing Platform (PREP) architecture for both the Linux and Solaris platforms. PREP provides chip and system designers with a pre-fabricated verification environment for complex designs, along with a methodology to comprehensively and efficiently test those designs. Leveraging the PREP architecture and methodology, and Zaiq's design experience and expertise, Zaiq engineers worked with NetOctave to help complete the NSP2000 design and verification project and the FPGA design and implementation project on time and on schedule for NetOctave's needs.
"The partnership between Zaiq and NetOctave is a clear demonstration of the power of experienced engineering talent coming together to reach an important time-to-revenue goal," said Ray Carlin, president and CEO of Zaiq Technologies. "Zaiq is very pleased to have worked with NetOctave to rapidly design and verify its unique ASIC system and we look forward to many successful endeavors with NetOctave in the future."
